Comic Who Called George Bush 'That Retarded Cowboy Fellow' Back As Host Of VMAs

MTV is bringing back British stand-up comic Russell Brand back as host the MTV Video Music Awards.

Brand hosted the event last year, and made headlines after he begged America to elect Barack Obama "on behalf of the world," called then-President George Bush "that retarded cowboy fellow" and joked that the out-of-wedlock pregnancy of Bristol Palin presented "the safe sex message of all time: use a condom or become a Republican."

The network has yet to announce the nominees or performers, although MTV did announce Taylor Swift would open the show.

The live VMAs will be held in New York City on September 13th, 2009.
