Too Much TV Exclusive: A Look At The Secret Conservative Social Media Campaign To Sink Netflix's Bid For WBD

Here's everything you need to know about the world of television for Monday, December 8th, 2025:

A BIT OF GOOD NEWS
The LA Press Club held their annual presentation of National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards Sunday night. And my web site - AllYourScreens.com - won the award for "Best Entertainment Blog by an Individual Not Tied to an Organization."

Longtime readers might recall that I was the winner last year of the David Robb Award for Best Investigative Civil Justice Story for my reporting on Matthew Feeney, a Minnesota-based teen acting coach who pled guilty to sexually abusing several of his clients. I am still surprised that no true crime producer decided to turn that into a docuseries. Granted, it would be a creepy and often depressing one.

Winning awards is always nice and I have as healthy an ego as any journalist. But these awards mean a bit more to me because it is really difficult to get recognition if you are a small independent journalist.

And this award came at just the right time. I was a bit frustrated over the weekend watching some other journalists "breaking" stories you read about here first. I don't think these reporters were doing their story and then not crediting me. I just think my reporting wasn't on their radar, which is actually a bit more depressing.

But the award recognition helps, as well as all the support I get from my subscribers.

And speaking of exclusives you won't read anywhere else....

THE DETAILS OF A SECRET CONSERVATIVE MEDIA EFFORT TO SINK THE NETFLIX BID FOR WARNER BROS. STUDIOS AND STREAMING
One advantage of having a substantial readership is that I have readers from every industry and political belief. And I hear from them on a regular basis. My reader emails can top 250-300 a day. More if I am writing something that resonates strongly with some people.

However, those emails also include a lot of tips and that has led to me breaking a number of stories over the past few years. And today's exclusive started with a reader email I received on Friday. It came from someone who is a moderately popular conservative influencer, but also someone who has a strong sense of what he will and won't for the cause.

He had just received a unsolicited pitch from someone he didn't know. A bland Gmail address and a name he had never heard before. But the subject of the email got his attention:

I wasn't sure if the pitch was legitimate, but he was able to connect me with two other conservative influencers who didn't want to talk to me. But did confirm they received the pitch and forwarded me their copies, which were identical to the one above.

None of these influencers wanted to be publicly named - for obvious reasons. But they are all relatively well-known influencers and it seems unlikely they would concoct some story to cause trouble.

One of the three had responded to the pitch and had received an offer letter and contract back for approval. I'm not going to share that here, because it is filled with personably identifiable information. But this offer could make someone thousands of dollars pretty quickly, which makes me suspect that whomever is doing it is willing to pour resources into the efforts.

I reached out to email address on the pitches and didn't receive a response.

I'm not going to speculate on who might be behind this or which influencers might have made a deal. Because honestly, it can be hard to determine sometimes if influencers are being bought or just jumping in to ride the engagement train of other accounts. But I will note that I saw a lot of thought-provoking tweets over the weekend on X. And I can't help suspecting that not all of the opinions being shared by the various conservative influencers and media types were entirely sincere:

ODDS AND SODS:
* Season ten of Summer House will premiere Tuesday, February 3rd on Bravo.

* The Kennedy Centers Awards presentation took place Sunday night and given what I have heard about the event, I am curious to see how much of it survives intact in the televised version, which is set to premiere on CBS later this month. For instance, this bit of commentary from President Trump:

“If there its one thread that connects all of these amazing artists together, it is the word persistence,” Trump said. “I can say that with a lot of members of our audience. I know so many of you. You are persistent. Many of you are miserable, horrible people. You are persistent. You never give up. Sometimes I wish you’d give up, but you don’t.”
